Planning to attend ASC2025 in Perth? The SSA is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities to support student and early-career statistician participation for SSA members, provided by our branches.

Please note that most scholarships require applicants to have an accepted abstract, so don’t forget to submit yours by 15 June!
Funding is available for SSA students and early career members to support expenses related to conference registration, travel, and accommodation costs.
SSA ACT
SSA ACT is offering up to $1,000 per recipient to support registration and travel expenses.
Open to SSA ACT student and early-career members
Applicants must be presenting a talk or poster
Funding reimbursed post-conference
Please prepare the following documents and submit a single PDF form containing:
A brief resume/CV of up to 2 pages
A short document (of no more than 200 words) describing why attending ASC 2025 will be beneficial for you and your statistical/data science career
A description of the costs and amounts you would like to be reimbursed
A statement declaring any other financial support you are receiving

SSA NSW
SSA NSW is offering grants of up to $750 for registration, travel, and accommodation.
Open to SSA NSW student and early-career members
Applicants must be presenting a talk or poster
Membership required at time of application

SSA QLD
SSA Queensland will award up to two scholarships, each worth up to $1,000.
Open to Honours, Masters, and PhD students at QLD universities
Applicants must be SSA members and presenting a talk or poster at ASC2025
Award can be used for registration, travel, and accommodation (funding reimbursed post-conference)
Award recipients are required to submit to the SSA Queensland Branch Secretary a short summary (of approximately 250 to 500 words) of their presentation and their personal conference highlights within two weeks of the conclusion of the conference.
To apply, email the following to the SSA QLD Branch Secretary:
Personal details: name, email address and phone number and a short paragraph introducing yourself, your current degree and qualifications and/or career experience.
Evidence of enrolment at a Queensland university (e.g., picture of student ID card).
Evidence of acceptance of your talk or poster
Abstract of your talk or poster.
SSA SA
SSA SA will offer two scholarships of up to $550 each for in-person attendees.
Open to SSA SA student and early-career members
Priority given to those involved in branch activities
Covers registration; remainder can assist with travel
Applicants should be prepared to provide:
Career stage (e.g., 2nd-year PhD student)

SSA Vic & Tas
SSA Vic & Tas will provide some scholarships as a contribution to the cost of attending the conference. Full details regarding the funding amount and selection criteria will be provided before applications open on Friday, 15 August.

SSA WA
As the host, SSA WA will not offer any scholarships in 2025. ECSS branch members who are interested in volunteering at the conference should contact the branch (ssa.wa.secretary@gmail.com) to express their interest.
